travel tips on how to get to venue and around provence
Airports
PARIS (CDG) Charles de Gaulle Airport: easiest international airport to get direct flights into. You can then take the high speed train (TGV) from Paris to Avignon or Aix en Provence station.
MARSEILLE (MRS) Marseille Provence Airport: nearest airport to Cadenet (the region of our venue). There are no direct flights from the US to MARSEILLE so you would have to make a connection in PARIS (CDG). From MARSEILLE (MRS) you can rent a car or schedule a private car or shuttle to take you to your hotel/Airbnb. It is about a 1 hour drive from MARSEILLE to the region of our venue.
*If you need any assistance in how to organize transportation please contact us.
Traveling by Train
If you choose to take the train in from Paris, take the TGV (high speed train) from Paris to Aix en Provence or from Paris to Avignon, which is roughly 3 hrs and 30min. We then recommend renting a car directly at the train station to continue on to your hotel/AirBNB.
The town where our wedding venue is located is called Cadenet, which is roughly a 45 minute drive from Aix en Provence station.
You can book TGV Train tickets below:
Renting a Car ( Required! )
Renting a car is required to be able to get around the region as there is NO public transportation and ubers/taxis are scarce. You can rent a car at the Marseille Airport (MRS) or the train station (At Avignon or Aix en Provence). You can rent at Sixt, Hertz, Avis, and Enterprise Rent A Car.
*Some Important Notes on Car Rentals:
Manual cars are default in France, so if you only drive automatic make sure to select automatic option when renting.
Be aware that off the highways, streets can suddenly get very narrow, so opt for a smaller vehicle over a large jeep if possible.

LOURMARIN VILLAGE
The town directly 8 minutes drive from our wedding venue is voted one of the prettiest in Provence! With a handful of gorgeous hotels, restaurants, and boutiques, this ivy-covered town should definitely be on your checklist. Definitely don’t miss out on the village market on Fridays.

Day trips
There are a handful of incredibly beautiful little villages in the surrounding areas. Here are just a few we recommend as day trips from Lourmarin.
Gordes: 38-minute drive from Lourmarin
Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque: 46-minute drive from Lourmarin
L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue: 47-minute drive from Lourmarin
Wine tasting
Enjoy local wine tasting at any of the nearby vineyards. The majority of the time you can drive up and do a casual tasting (and take bottles back with you), but you can also book private tours by calling in advance.
Some vineyards we recommend: Domaine de Fontenille, Chateau Constantin, and Chateau de Verrerie
Calanques national park
If you have time to extend your trip, drive down to the South from Aix en Provence to Calanques National Park. It hosts beautiful cliff lined beaches.
There’s a hidden beach called Calanques du Miguel et De Figuerolles.
French Riviera (Cote d’azur)
If you have time to extend your trip a few days, it is definitely worth driving along the coastline of the French Riviera. Enjoy stunning beaches, French cuisine and beautiful villages.
A few destinations worth visiting: Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Antibes, Nice, St-Paul-deVence. Check out the blog below for more tips!

If you are a fan of being on a boat, boating around the coastal cliffs and turquoise waters of the Calanques near Marseilles or Casis is truly breathtaking. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and cliff-jumping.
